It’s that time again! We’ve been accepting submissions on the Ubuntu Artwork Flickr group for a while now but with the deadline fast approaching for Beta we need to get together a shortlist and finalise the photo wallpapers that will be in the next Ubuntu release in October.
There’s still time, we’re looking for submissions to the group by the end of the week – Friday 20th August at 12pm UTC. From then on we’ll have some previous winners shortlist and choose the final photos to be included.
For your entry to be considered it has to be on Flickr or available to be supplied in 1920×1680 resolution or higher and as with previous contests the image has to be your own.
If you have any questions you can find a new discussion thread on Flickr or catch us in the comments and on the usual IRC channels.

How do you submit your photo if you don’t want to use Flickr? (you don’t like the ToS, or Yahoo! or for some other reason)
Not to sound like a jerk, but please pick a good one this time, and not a bunch of blurry gradients
I am sure one Flutterbudget’s photos will make it to the release. He has been working really hard.
@Børge I’m afraid we are using Flickr because it’s an easy way for us to manage submissions so if you can’t/ don’t wish to add your photos to Flickr then we can’t accept your submission. Sorry but a manual submission process would be extremely time consuming to manage.
I understand it’s too late to change the process now, but would you consider using a different platform next time?
There are so many alternatives out there better than yahoo/flickr! It seems a bit contradictory to me for an opensource software to use flickr.
I concur with Tim, Yahoo! is archaic and repulsive, there must be a better way to submit images.
Yahoo may be archaic and repulsive (such an opinion is mine), but Flickr wasn’t part of Yahoo until recently, and, being a user of Flickr, I personally see nothing either archaic or repulsive about it.
@Flutterbudget Flickr is pretty OK and I even once wanted to sign up, but one can’t do it without first signing up with Yahoo! mail, and that fact is troublesome.
I don’t even know Plastic, corporate, totally NOT
Interesante artículo. Muy interesante lo que dices, te agradezco!
