Last week in London and Brussels
I spent the first part of last week in a small room in London with Andrea Cimitan, Daniel Foré and Otto Greenslade working on the amazing Murrine theme engine and the Ambiance (and Radiance) themes.
In a few days we accomplished quite a lot: a new expander style, a new handle style, new radio and check button styles , focused and default button theme states, etc. More on this in the near future.
Thursday evening Otto, Daniel and myself travelled to Brussels to attend the Libre Graphic Meeting. I really enjoyed myself and learned quite a lot including; best practices in font design, releasing and maintaining open fonts, font design and features for African languages, device specific colour management, and diffusion curves (amazing stuff).

Ken,
I just finished updating the “Impression” GTK themes leveraging the excellent work of the Ambiance and Radiance themes.
I posted screen shots to flickr.

I am very interested in the improvements to Murrine as suggested by this blog post and will keep track of changes as they are committed in git.
Thanks,
John
John,
I started a wiki page -http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Documentation/Murrine
It needs to be updated to reflect the current options but I think this is the right place for the info.
Please understand that we spent a week tweaking the options and discussing the possibilities in the future. We added a few options, nothing ground-breaking but nice. We have a couple of really interesting things planned (more on that later).
After that I had (almost) a week of vacation/holiday. w00t!
Hi
Please, consider changing the colors that you’re using in the radiance theme. I don’t know what is wrong with the combination of the colors, but I think that the background color (the grey-white color) is somehow to shiny and the colors of the icons too strong! It hurt my eyes (it’s true). And the orange loading bar is too bright, it seems misplaced. I think you could do with a little bit more moderate colors. That would make the colors blend in better.
The themes have not been updated for Maverick yet (nothing official at least) but I know that a colour change is planned for Radiance, it simply hasn’t happened yet.
Hey Kenneth, still looking forward to feedback on my suggestions around open font best practises: http://www.advogato.org/person/yosch/diary/105.html
Cheers.
