It is time to extend the Ubuntu Font Beta Testing.
We need to make sure that the Ubuntu font is being fully exercised beyond the English language and I do not want to rely on accidental incidents but rather explicitly add people from the translations teams for various languages (and alphabets).
Today we have started adding language teams so, if your team gets an email from us, we need your help!
For more information on the Beta programme please see my previous post.
soon Hebrew and Arabic?
@Ddorda Arabic and Hebrew won’t be done until after the Maverick release. We will keep you posted!
Hi:
I wonder (if possible) when we can test the new font, as it is fully functional for the English language. I would also like to know how we can collaborate.
Excuse my bad English.
Now that the hinting patents have expired (http://freetype.sourceforge.net/patents.html) is Ubuntu going to use the fretype’s bytecode interpreter by default?
In that case, are you testing the new font with or without using that feature?
Are latin symbols supported?
á é í ó ú ü
Because I have a pirate version of the font which doesn’t. Theese closed betas really suck.
The version posted on OMGbuntu works fine
Artir:
It worked fine in Photoshop but not in the browser. Some parts of the font are thicker and other thiners.
Thankyou.
So there will be an Arabic Glyphs soon after Maverick release ?
finally a GOOD UI FONT!
Sundanese Fonts please. They’d been registered but don’t have any good-looking default fonts like arial. I hove sundanese font can be include into ubuntu font.
ps
info about sundanese font can be found on wikipedia
Gugum Gumilar: It would certainly be desirable to have good Sundanese font coverage. Currently the only font I have installed which covers Sundanese (Aksara Swara). Please could you file a wishlist bug on the bug-tracker so that we can track it all in one place:
The main think is to find a Sundanese font designer familiar with the intricacies of the script and a group of testers (such as yourself) who would be able to review the script coverage on an everyday basis.
