Something exciting next year
Bruno Maag from Dalton Maag has been asked by the Design Museum London to put on an exhibition of his work. This is a collaboration between ourselves and DM,
the exhibition will be in two parts a substantial part of which will be featuring the Ubuntu font.
Exhibition from 28th January for a month
more details to follow in the new year

Where did the capital M go? :)
LOL
Intentional?
OK, I’m going to leave a first sensible reply.
This is great news. Congratulations to everyone involved, looking forward to the exhibition!
Asking why there was no capital m is a sensible question.
There’s no M in Ubuntu font so you can’t capitalice Microsoft.
LOL!
How ironic that you yourself capitalized the word micro$soft.
That indeed is. And i second both “sensible” comments :-P
This is an exhibition about type and in particular the Ubuntu font,
I welcome ‘eagle eyes’, as the famous typographer Jan Tschichold said ‘God is in the detail’.
However I think the comments should be more about the fact we are having a major exhibition about open source and the Ubuntu font, and we are hitting out to a wider audience. Surely this is a far more interesting thing to comment on isn’t it?
Come on chaps!
Well done especially as the design museum has some of Jonathan Ive’s work in their permanent collection and a page dedicated to his designs.
A few laptops with Ubuntu stickers on will make a nice change from the illuminated fruit in the cafe as well! Perhaps some 10.04 CDs could be sold in the shop for a nominal £5 each as a gesture? Is there time to print a font sample cd-wallet to go with them?
Best of luck
Excuse us for asking a perfectly reasonable question, on the off chance a mistake was made that could be corrected.
Firstly, well done.
I’m not always impressed by the same things that the Design Museum is (take, for instance, their Chairs exhibit, which appears to place a far higher priority on “a witty statement made by the designer” over such things as “comfort”, and “ergomonics.”)
However, I am a fan of Jonathan Ive, and Apple products in general, so I find it fantastic to see that Bruno and Ubuntu are being held up in the same company from a design perspective.
Secondly, a question about visiting – is there going to be a “Come and see the exhibition with the Canonical Team and/or Bruno” day? If so, it would be the right day to schlep up to the South Bank.
Thirdly, a small comment on the top article. You write “This is a collaboration between ourselves and DM”. I’m not sure, in this context, whether DM stands for Design Museum, or Dalton Maag. This, to me, remains a larger mystery than the case of the missing M.
Regards,
Mark
thanks.. for ubuntu
still no answer where M went…
Useful info. Lucky me I discovered your website by accident, and I’m surprised why this coincidence did not took place earlier! I bookmarked it.
